Most Americans live in multi-family housing communities. According to the North American Mission Board, 95 percent of multihousing residents have no church involvement.

Building Missional Thinking in a New Generation
This conference focuses on student involvement in urban and community ministry, with guest keynote speaker Bart Campolo. Bart is the leader of The Walnut Hills Fellowship, a local ministry in inner-city Cincinnati. He is also founder of Mission Year, a Christian ministry which recruits committed young adults to live and work among the poor in inner-city neighborhoods.

Online Seminar: Addictions and Your Church

On Friday, September 24 at 10:00 a.m., log on to www.texasbaptists.org to participate in a live online seminar about how the church can help people in their congregations who are struggling with addictions. 

Panelists include Carrie Beaird, LPC, LCDC (Christian Life Commission), Dr. Heath Marion (Pastor, The Oaks Baptist Church), and Jana Jackson (Dallas Baptist Association).  Participants can submit questions online via the Addictions Ministry Education Network facebook page.

Classes in English-as-a-second language and adult reading and writing are offered at many of our Dallas Baptist Association churches, and more are needed. 

DBA can connect you to training and resources to help churches share Christ as they meet this need in our communities.

Dallas Christian Women's Job Corps

Dallas Christian Women's Job Corps and Christian Women's Job Corps--Grand Prairie prepare women for meaningful work by providing classroom instruction and mentors. 

New Creation Bible Church's Hope Coalition is the newest Christian Women's Job Corps ministry in Dallas.  They recently graduated their first class.

 

Christian Men's Job Corps

On July 13, Hope Coalition will begin its Christian Men's Job Corps ministry. Thirteen men are enrolled in the ministry's job readiness classes which will meet on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings.  The ministry's director is James McGlover, a member of New Creation Bible Church.  Brother McGlover is a semi-retired small business owner and serves as the church's administrator.  Men interested in volunteering with the ministry may call Bro. McGlover at 214-328-9187.  Mentors are especially needed.

Gladys Moore Mission Offering
Family or Community Ministry Grant

Funds from the Gladys Moore Mission Offering are available to qualifying DBA churches to assist with the development of family and community ministries.  A church must be a cooperating member of the association demonstrated by  an established pattern of giving and having furnished an annual report (ACP) for the previous year.
