“Asian population surged 43 percent in the United States in last decade”

During the 2000 U.S. Census, Asians comprised 3.6 percent of the total American population.  Asians now account for about five percent of the nation’s total population.  The Census Bureau projects that the Asian population will grow to 9.3 percent of the population by 2050.
The Asian population “is expected to swell as trade, business and cultural and personal ties between the USA and the Asian continent grow, and the influx of skilled labor, mainly from China and India, continues.”
